Who I Am
Passionate Support for Your Furry Family Members
Hi, I’m Carla! My love for animals has taken me through quite a few different paths — from working with dogs in training, behaviour, grooming and kennel management, to studying Veterinary Nursing at the University of Pretoria.
Over the years, I’ve learned that caring for an animal is about much more than simply keeping them fed and healthy. Understanding their behaviour, recognising when something isn’t right, and knowing how to respond when they need help can make a huge difference to their quality of life.
I created Carla’s Clever Canines to bring together the things I love most: animals, education and helping people. My aim is to make useful pet-care information easier to understand and, most importantly, easier to put into practice.

Why I Created Carla’s Clever Canines
Carla’s Clever Canines started with a simple idea: pet owners deserve access to practical, trustworthy information that helps them feel more confident caring for their animals.
My first-hand experience working with dogs, combined with my ongoing veterinary nursing studies, has shown me just how valuable good owner education can be. Sometimes, knowing what to look for, what to do, or when to seek professional help can make all the difference.
I started creating resources that I would genuinely want a pet owner to have — beginning with practical first-aid information specifically for South African pet parents. My vision is to continue growing Carla’s Clever Canines into a place where owners can find useful guides, educational resources and practical tools to help them give their pets the best care they can.
Because the better we understand our animals, the better we can care for them. 🐾
